Late 19th Century Victorian Apothecary Cabinet
£1,395.00
A late nineteenth-century apothecary cabinet in mahogany, hand-made with dovetail jointing throughout and retaining the majority of its original cut crystal glass handles. This cabinet would have stood behind the counter of a Victorian pharmacy or apothecary, each of its drawers filled with a specific compound, herb, powder, or preparation.
The brass label holders across the drawer fronts carry handwritten labels in Latin. In a domestic setting it works equally well for a collector, a naturalist, someone with a serious sorting or archiving habit, or anyone drawn to Victorian material culture, and would make a standout talking piece in any living area.
May require some restoration to satisfy personal taste but has the perfect patina otherwise.
