Tennis Cabinet
£2,995.00
A rare piece of sporting furniture, made for Highgate School C.1920s to the 1940s to record and store the running of the school's tennis activities. The cabinet retains its original painted lettering throughout, including separate ledger drawers for singles and doubles results and dedicated ball storage compartments.
A painted motto reading "Winning Is Nothing / Winning Is Everything" runs across the piece, a period reflection of the sporting ethos of the time. The top two cupboards each have adjustable shelving with three shelves per side, and each bottom cupboard holds a further shelf, offering plenty of practical storage.
The cabinet shows historic signs of age-related wear, in keeping with its history and use. A fantastic conversation piece as well as a functional cabinet.
