A French faience oyster plate in a deep amber glaze with darker tortoiseshell patterning, six shell wells around a central cup. In modern use the function extends well beyond oysters, the configuration makeing it a natural sharing plate for a dinner table olives, marinated anchovies, cornichons, and a dipping sauce in the centre. It works equally well as a snacking plate.
